Harry, the driving force behind Garage Style, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey after working as an apprentice at Mercedes. Fuelled by a desire to create something of his own, he started buying and selling on eBay, eventually generating enough income to leave his 9-to-5 job. Recognising an untapped market in the UK for premium garage flooring, Harry founded Garage Style, a business specialising in engineered interlocking floor tiles that effortlessly transform unremarkable garages into eye-catching showrooms.
Quality and innovation at the core
GarageStyle Flooring takes pride in its tough interlocking floor tiles, engineered to withstand the harshest garage environments. The quick interlocking tile system allows for a hassle-free installation process, requiring no special tools. All PVC flooring products are manufactured in the UK under strict quality control, ensuring Garage Style remains the premier garage floor tile company. With a true 500mm x 500mm size and a variety of designs and colours, customers have a range of options to choose from.
What started as a side venture alongside eBay has flourished into a thriving business over the past 6 and a half years. Garage Style has expanded its offerings to include garage storage cabinets, hexagon lighting, ramps, personalised flooring tiles, and garage doors. Boasting over 140k followers on Instagram and a massive presence on TikTok, Garage Style has even transformed the garages of celebrities like Jake Paul, Stacey Solomon, Mrs Hinch, and Sigma.
Building a brand and giving back
For Harry, the most fulfilling part of being a business owner is creating and growing the Garage Style brand. "We've found success by putting effort into building a strong presence on social media and continually reinvesting in our business. This not only helps us reach more people but also allows us to offer opportunities to younger employees, contributing to the ongoing success and recognition of Garage Style."
Smart financial moves with Capital on Tap
Beyond business, Harry runs a networking group for small businesses in his community, creating a mutually beneficial environment. It was here that his community connections introduced him to the Capital on Tap Business Credit Card. Making the switch from American Express due to supplier limitations, Harry now spends around £500k annually on his Capital on Tap card. This strategic move has allowed Garage Style to earn uncapped cashback on all their purchases, enabling them to fund projects like Jake Paul's garage in Puerto Rico and attend industry events like the SEMA show in Las Vegas. “We used our Avios points to pay for 7 employees’ flights to Vegas. After converting our cashback to Avios points we only had to pay £75 for each flight ! Using our points brought the cost right down so we could justify the trip.”
Consistency is the key
Offering advice to fellow business owners, Harry emphasises the importance of consistency. “Social media hasn’t always worked for us - especially in the beginning. But we kept at it and now it’s paying off.” Whether in social media efforts or business endeavours, he believes that consistent hard work and determination eventually pay off. For Harry, building a brand, reinvesting, and giving opportunities to younger employees have been the pillars of Garage Style's success.
